Electronic Bench Press
The Electronic Bench Press is an automatic equipment that performs the compressive strength test on iron ore pellets. The pellets are initially placed in the Vibrating Feeder and transported individually to the test site, where compression takes place until rupture.
The number of pellets to be tested is pre-defined by the operator, and the excess is discarded after the end of the test. Upon completion of a test, the results of the test will be presented with values measured individually for each pellet, in addition to general statistics. A report will also be generated, which can be printed or saved electronically by the operator. The test follows all the procedures established by the ISO 4700:2007 standard.
The main advantages of the Electronic Bench Press are its greater precision in applying the load, positioning the pellet to be pressed and measuring its size, in addition to eliminating routine adjustments in order to maintain the load application within the standard required by the standard. Most presses found on the market use a hydraulic unit for applying load. The fluid flow control valves in this system suffer wear, requiring routine adjustments to try to maintain the load application condition at constant speed.
The robotic press comes to solve this problem by changing the load application system to a servo-controlled electromechanical system. In addition to ensuring a constant speed load application, the robotic press also measures the pellet size due to the servo motor having position control based on the same principles as speed control. Another innovation is the positioning system for the pellet to be pressed, made now by a pneumatic cylinder without intermediate stop, thus increasing the precision of the stopping point in the pressing position, and decreasing the test time.
